The Big Three and many of their suppliers are hiring engineers left and right if you consider leaving CA. I would not recommend FCA though.

I am at the biggest auto supplier. Located in southeast Michigan. I enjoy working there. If you reply with your email, I could send you a list of openings. I’ll dismiss your post after. *edit* I just realized you might have meant southern california by “social” area? All these openings are in SE Michigan.
